This was one of the most exhausting weeks, even though I was informally voted most energetic of the class. My brain hurt, literally. You see, this was a week long, all day long, lighting workshop. I am a huge advocate for constantly challenging oneself and to never stop learning, so I invested good time and money to gain a better understanding of artificial light. So. worth. it! Under the tutelage of Syl Arena, one of the great master lighting pros, we practiced with all kinds of lighting equipment and in all kinds of challenging lighting situations: blazing heat at high sun, a dim wine cellar, an abandoned ugly office building, a dusty working ranch and a dark greasy World War II machinery shop.
All images were created with strobes, flashes, softboxes and many accessories. A HUGE thanks to Syl, my classmates, Mark who had to stand in as my model (such a good sport), and all the other models – Carson, Christina, Mallory, Misha, Kaili, and even Syl’s own son, Vin. I loved chatting with them, hearing about their endeavors and sharing some laughs. Thanks guys!
