  • Hello + Welcome!

I call hilly San Francisco home with my husband and wild child. I like wild, so I'd have it no other way. When I am not with my boys, I love to be out capturing life - people - in a fun and real way. It is work, but I get to laugh, play, cheer, and get excited … a lot.

Thanks for stopping by to visit my journal! Please make sure to leave a comment because I'd love to hear from you. It definitely makes my day.

Hope we connect some day soon!

I love a family who opens the door to their home and are completely themselves, even when we meet for the first time.  Not uncommon with families of young children, there are frequent snafus in the family schedule that make life unpredictable – and it’s as if we parents have an unwritten acknowledgement that we all have to just roll with it and embrace the chaos.  But through the controlled chaos it was easy to notice that these parents cherished their kids.  It was the subtle unprompted kisses, playing back-up singer as the boy played lead guitarist, or that extra tight hug after a fall.

This particular day the kids didn’t nap as planned and the parents were still running around getting dressed.  So I was told to help myself to look around while the baby was plopped on the floor.  But who could walk away from this beauty?  Without a peep, she just studied me intently, curious to who I was and what I was doing.  Her personality came out immediately in her quiet studious manner. Even when big brother came around to check out the action, her gaze still followed me wherever I went and she didn’t care to play.

Big brother was quite the opposite.  He was more of the hands-on curious type and not a bit shy, full of energy and endless charm.  And did I mention silly?

My favorite family portraits are the giggly kind.

This little one loves the warm security of mom and dad’s arms.

Thank goodness for the typical long hallway of San Francisco dwellings.  They make excellent racetracks for little feet and trucks.

We’ll never want to forget how she would use mama’s finger to inspect those fuzzy animals or anything we may be a bit dubious about.

There is nothing like a mom’s warm hug after a fall or times as simple as a balloon floating away.

Oh how this dad dotes on his little girl …. and I can see why!

For kids who didn’t sleep much, they sure were rock stars!

Here’s to living a perfectly imperfect life!

It was a busy summer filled with summer camps in all corners of the city followed by a final two week trip to NYC to visit friends and family.  With only a week lull time, we were heading to kindergarten.  The morning came and I had to drag him out of bed, with little one moaning, “why does school have to start so early?”  Once we got out of the house, he was full of excitement of the unknown, looking forward to being with loads of other kids.

I warned my little wild child that I’d be visually documenting our morning.  I’ve gotten lots of feedback from friends on how nice it was to see the larger story of such a special day.  It made me think how nice it would be to follow a family around the morning of to capture the interaction of parents and kids as they anticipate the day and hug goodbye.  Would you be interested in something like this?

Little one just noticed the large anxious crowd outside of school and I think he momentarily got a sinking feeling.

On graduation day this past spring, our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) teacher sat down next to me and said if “I ever get engaged, I’d love for you to be our photographer.”  Much to my surprise I received an email this summer saying she was engaged!  So we planned out the location for the engagement session based on what was meaningful to them.  Sutro Baths was their first date, they live in the Sunset, and love trails and views.  I think we got it covered.
